Event description

A plate holding a decorated cookies in the shapes of candy canes, Christmas trees, stockings, snowmen, and Santa Claus.

The kitchen, with a potentially hot oven, can be an unnerving place for a parent to bring their child. Children, even those with vision loss, can be introduced at a very early age to some tasks in baking. In this workshop, a parent and child team will work together to make and decorate delicious holiday cookies.

Children will be given the opportunity to try their hands with specially designed and adaptive baking tools to measure wet and dry ingredients, roll dough, and use safe cookies cutters to make fun shapes.

While the cookies bake, the parent and child will be introduced to several techniques to decorate the cookies for attractive and predictable outcomes that can be practiced when the cookies cool.
